Research studies have demonstrated that CyPB associates with type I procollagen and is involved in its sorting and transport through the secretory compartment (3). Webacteristics of necrosis (e.g. loss of membrane integrity, energy independence) and therefore was termed programmed necrosis (Golstein & Kroemer, 2007). Programmed necrosis can be blocked by the speciﬁc cyclophilin inhibitor cyclosporin A (CSA) emphasizing the involvement of CYPD and mPTP in this type of PCD (Zong & Thompson, 2006).
